YouTube unveils new feature

YouTube has announced an expansion of its ‘Communities’ feature, allowing more creators to engage directly with their audiences in a social media-like environment.

Initially available to select users, the feature is now being extended on an invite-only basis.

‘Communities’ enables creators to post updates, polls, images, and text-based content, fostering deeper audience interaction. It also includes moderation tools for managing discussions.

Eligible users will receive notifications about their access to the feature, with the option to enable or disable it.

Additionally, YouTube is renaming the ‘Communities’ tab to ‘Posts’ to better reflect its evolving role in content sharing.

A YouTube representative stated at the Made on YouTube 2024 event that the expansion aims to help creators connect with their audiences more meaningfully.

Currently, the feature is exclusive to mobile users, reinforcing YouTube’s focus on enhancing engagement on handheld devices.
