Eighteen-year-old Yevan David has made history by becoming the first Sri Lankan driver to compete in the FIA Formula 3 Championship.
He has signed with AIX Racing for the 2026 season, marking a major milestone in Sri Lanka’s motorsport journey.
Currently in contention for the Euroformula title, David has claimed four wins, five additional podium finishes, and a pole position this season while driving for the dominant Motopark team. He impressed early, securing two wins and a third place on his debut in the final round of 2024.
Before that, David competed in Eurocup-3, Spanish F4, and UAE F4 in 2024 — his first full season in single-seater racing after moving up from karting.
Expressing his pride, David said he was honoured to be the first Sri Lankan in FIA F3 and grateful for the chance to race with AIX Racing, adding, “They’ve proved themselves and I’m excited to achieve great milestones with them for the season ahead.”
David’s karting career includes a fourth-place finish in the 2020 IAME Asia Cup (X30 Junior), sixth place in the 2021 FIA Karting Academy Trophy, a silver medal in the Motorsport Games’ Karting Sprint Senior competition, and strong results in 2023, including eighth in the WSK Champions Cup and 19th in the FIA World Cup for KZ2 shifter karts.
He is AIX Racing’s first confirmed FIA F3 signing for 2026, joining a team that has also announced Eurocup-3 racer Emmo Fittipaldi in its Formula 2 line-up for next year.
