Xi Jinping: China ready to partner with SL for a new era of development

Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed China’s readiness to collaborate closely with Sri Lanka to usher in a new era of development, according to the President’s Media Division (PMD).

These remarks were made during bilateral talks with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who is on an official visit to China.

President Xi highlighted the longstanding friendship between the two nations and reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s development in the future.

During the visit, both countries signed several key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to strengthen cooperation in sectors such as the economy, social development, and industry.

The official meeting between President Dissanayake and President Xi Jinping took place yesterday afternoon at the Great Hall of the People.

The visit began with a grand welcoming ceremony, including a ceremonial gun salute, to honor the Sri Lankan President.

The Sri Lankan delegation accompanying President Dissanayake included Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism Vijitha Herath; Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation Bimal Rathnayake; and Director General of the Government Information Department H.S.K.J. Bandara.
