World Test Championship 2025 finalists confirmed

Australia will have the opportunity to defend their World Test Championship title after defeating India in the fifth and final Border-Gavaskar Test, securing their spot in the Final at Lord’s in June.

Pat Cummins’ team will take on Temba Bavuma’s South Africa at the iconic venue starting June 11, with the Proteas securing their qualification in a thrilling two-wicket victory over Pakistan in their Boxing Day Test.

Sri Lanka, who will host Australia for a two-Test series in Galle from late January, cannot surpass either of these teams in the standings.

Australia secured their place in the Final on day three of the New Year’s Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground, successfully chasing a target of 162 in the fourth innings with six wickets remaining.

Usman Khawaja (41) played a key role in Australia’s chase on a challenging pitch, with Travis Head and Beau Webster also contributing to the victory.

The win lifted Australia to 63.73% of possible points, ensuring they edged out India (who finished with 50.00% of possible points) for the spot in the Final.
