The World Health Organization (WHO) has launched a week-long mission in Sri Lanka to assist in developing a National Action Plan to tackle substandard, falsified and unregistered medical products.
According to WHO Sri Lanka, the programme began with a high-level meeting involving the Chief Executive Officer of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) and senior officials.
The discussions focused on strengthening market surveillance and control mechanisms while identifying priority actions to prevent, detect and respond to unsafe health products.
WHO Sri Lanka also said a series of technical consultations were held with NMRA teams to further improve and finalise key components of the proposed national action plan.
