Warwickshire has signed Sri Lankan Test bowler Vishwa Fernando to strengthen their attack for the start of the Rothesay County Championship.
The left-arm pacer, with 79 Test wickets to his name, will be available for Warwickshire’s Division One games in April.
Fernando, 33, is expected to make his debut in the season opener against Sussex on 4th of April, followed by matches against Durham and Nottinghamshire.
An experienced First-Class cricketer with 342 wickets in 124 games, Fernando impressed during his stint with Yorkshire last summer, taking 17 wickets in three red-ball games, including a standout nine-wicket haul against Derbyshire.
Expressing his excitement, Fernando said, “I am thrilled to join Warwickshire for the early part of the season
. Playing county cricket has been a fantastic experience, and I look forward to teaming up with Alex Davies, Ed Barnard, and the rest of the squad.”
