
According to Weather zone, a cyclone is driving extreme weather conditions across Australia, with swirling winds pushing hot air from inland Western Australia to the west coast.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has issued extreme and severe heatwave warnings for the central state and low-intensity warnings for the west coast, with temperatures expected to peak on Saturday.
In Queensland, extreme and severe heat conditions are forecast from Tuesday to Sunday, affecting parts of the state’s east, including Brisbane, while low-intensity heatwaves will impact the west.
Today’s temperatures across major cities include:
- Perth: 38°C
- Melbourne and Darwin: 33°C
- Brisbane and Adelaide: 31°C
- Sydney: 27°C
- Hobart: 26°C (coolest capital city today)
Meanwhile, Severe Tropical Cyclone Sean has intensified to a Category 4 storm with sustained winds of 165 km/h and gusts of up to 230 km/h.
Residents in the Pilbara region are advised to seek shelter as the cyclone tracks westward along the coast.
