

Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath is scheduled to undertake an official visit to New Zealand and Australia from 26 May to 3 June 2026, at the invitation of the two governments.

During the visit, Minister Herath is expected to hold bilateral discussions with New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters and Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong to strengthen diplomatic engagement and discuss matters of mutual interest.
He is also due to meet senior government officials, business leaders, academics, think tanks, and members of the Sri Lankan community in both countries.
A key highlight of the New Zealand visit will be the ceremonial opening of the Sri Lankan High Commission in Wellington.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, the visit is expected to further enhance Sri Lanka’s longstanding relations with New Zealand and Australia, while expanding cooperation in areas of shared interest.
