
Vijitha Herath met with Oana Țoiu during his official visit to Romania, where they held discussions on strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, the two ministers recalled that diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and Romania were established in 1957, noting that the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties will be commemorated next year.
Their discussions focused on further expanding what both sides described as excellent bilateral relations into new areas of cooperation. The talks explored opportunities to enhance collaboration in mutually beneficial sectors, including trade, investment and cultural exchange.
Minister Herath also extended an invitation to his Romanian counterpart to visit Sri Lanka at a mutually convenient date.
Following the meeting, the two ministers jointly addressed the Romanian media, reaffirming their commitment to deepening ties between Sri Lanka and Romania.
