Victoria urges caution over measles outbreak

A measles warning has been issued for Victoria following the confirmation of two measles cases in Melbourne.

Victorian health authorities have warned that there is a risk of the disease spreading within the community, as the individuals involved had not traveled overseas.

So far this year, eight measles cases have been reported in Victoria.

Symptoms of measles typically appear within 24 hours of infection, with blisters developing after about 4 days.

These symptoms are similar to those of Covid-19, and the Victorian Health Department cautioned that both children and adults with weakened immune systems could experience severe symptoms from measles.
