The Victorian government has announced a new initiative to provide free tampons and pads through vending machines at popular public venues across the state.
More than 20 major locations in Melbourne and Greater Victoria will offer free access to period products as part of a $23 million program aimed at addressing period poverty.
Notable venues participating in the initiative include the Royal Botanic Gardens, South Melbourne Market, Queen Victoria Market, Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne Museum, and the State Library of Victoria.
The program is designed to promote dignity, accessibility, and equality for individuals who menstruate, particularly those facing financial hardship.
