The Victorian Government has presented a revised pay and conditions offer to the Australian Education Union for public school staff.
The new proposal includes higher pay for education support employees, with increases aligned to teachers’ percentage salary rises.
It also promises to halve teacher meeting times, giving educators more time for lesson planning, preparation and student assessment.
Classroom teachers at the top of the pay scale would receive an additional one percent annual lump-sum payment.
The government has indicated it may take the offer directly to employees, a move the union has criticised as bypassing its members.
The Australian Education Union will meet later today to consider the revised offer and decide its next steps.
