Victoria bushfires Out of control, red warning issued

Authorities have cautioned that severe forest fire conditions will affect the residents of Victoria on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

The forest fire in the Grampians National Park has already engulfed over 40,000 hectares of land, continuing to spread rapidly.

Evacuation orders have been issued for residents of Halls Gap, Belfield, Lake Fyans, and nearby areas, with authorities warning them not to return.

“Watch and Act” warnings have been extended to communities including Pomonal, Barton, Mafeking, Watagania, and several others in the region.

Vic Emergency has reported a slight decrease in fire spread due to light rain in certain areas, though the situation remains unpredictable.

Although Melbourne received some rain yesterday, it was insufficient to assist firefighting efforts on the ground.

In response to the ongoing fires, the Grampians National Park, located approximately 200 kilometers northwest of Melbourne, has been closed to the public.

Weather forecasts suggest a potential rise in temperatures across the state, heightening the risk of further forest fires on Christmas and Boxing Day.

Firefighting teams from ACT, NSW, and Queensland are en route to assist in controlling the spread of the fires in Victoria.

VicEmergency has issued warnings for residents of Bullenrook, near Gisborne, as a wildfire continues to spread uncontrollably.

Firefighters are closely monitoring the blaze moving northeast from Coffeys Road towards Mulcahy Road and Waterloo Flat Road, prompting temporary road closures.

CFA Chief Officer Jason Heffernan has called on residents to be vigilant and take necessary precautions to avoid causing wildfires.
