Temperatures across Victoria are set to exceed 40°C from today as a severe heatwave grips the state.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a heatwave warning for multiple regions, including Melbourne, Ballarat, Moe, Mallacoota, Omeo, Shepparton, Traralgon, Wangaratta, Albury-Wodonga, and Warragul, which are all forecast to experience soaring temperatures.
Bendigo and Tullamarine are expected to hit 40°C on Sunday, with Shepparton predicted to reach a scorching 41°C.
Authorities have cautioned that extreme heatwaves pose significant health risks, particularly to vulnerable groups such as the elderly, young children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and those with existing medical conditions.
