
US Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs and Director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office, Sergio Gor, contacted President Anura Kumara Dissanayake following Cyclone Ditwah, which resulted in hundreds of deaths and displaced hundreds of thousands.
During the call, President Dissanayake expressed his gratitude to the United States for its ongoing support in the wake of the disaster.
The US Department of State’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs stated on X: “Special Envoy Sergio Gor spoke this morning with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who thanked the United States for its continued support following Cyclone Ditwah. The United States continues to monitor the situation closely and extends its deepest condolences to the families who have lost loved ones.”
