The United States has announced $2 million in emergency life-saving assistance to support Sri Lankans affected by the severe impact of Tropical Cyclone Ditwah, the Office of the Spokesman said.
The U.S. will also utilise the Department of War’s strategic airlift capabilities to strengthen government-led disaster response efforts. Officials from the Department of State are coordinating closely with the Sri Lankan government and humanitarian organisations to ensure that aid is delivered efficiently and reaches the communities most affected.
“We remain committed to working with the government of Sri Lanka as it carries out vital recovery and reconstruction efforts following Cyclone Ditwah. The United States extends its heartfelt condolences for the tragic loss of life and widespread destruction caused by the cyclone,” the statement added.
