Deputy National Organiser of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), MP S. M. Marikkar, said that the United National Party (UNP) and the SJB will contest the upcoming Provincial Council elections together.
He stated that an alternative political force within the right-wing camp is essential and that such a force is now taking shape. MP Marikkar said the UNP and the SJB will inevitably unite, stressing that there is no debate on the matter.
He noted that unity alone does not guarantee electoral victory, but described it as a necessary step to meet the aspirations of a globally connected younger generation.
He further explained that this alternative political force will be led by the SJB under the leadership of Sajith Premadasa, while also drawing on the experience, guidance, and political expertise of Ranil Wickremesinghe.
