An unidentified female body was discovered in the sea beneath the bridge leading to Pigeon Island within the Matara Police Division, according to the Police Media Division.
The body was found on the night of 11th of July following a tip-off received by the Matara Police. Preliminary investigations suggest that the woman was between 40 and 45 years old.
Police stated that the woman was approximately 5 feet tall and was wearing a black and yellow dress with a black short skirt at the time of discovery. Her identity remains unknown.
The Matara Police have launched a full investigation to determine the cause of death and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
