The Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Azusa Kubota, has reaffirmed the UNDP’s commitment to supporting the Sri Lankan government’s efforts to build an efficient, accountable, and transparent public service.
She made these remarks during a meeting with the Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, held this morning at the Presidential Secretariat, according to the President’s Media Division.
The discussion focused on enhancing collaboration with the UNDP to strengthen staff training and establish Internal Affairs Units (IAUs) across all government institutions. These units are aimed at promoting transparency, preventing corruption, ensuring accountability, and reinforcing ethical governance in coordination with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
Additionally, the meeting explored the introduction of programmes to foster a culture of compliance within public institutions by encouraging ethical behaviour among public officials.
