United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, has expressed his support for the initiatives led by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the Sri Lankan government to promote national unity, reconciliation, and the protection of human rights, according to a statement by the President’s Media Division.
Türk, who is currently on an official visit to Sri Lanka, conveyed these remarks during a meeting with President Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat on 26th of June .
He commended the political and social reforms underway in the country and noted that both the people of the North and South have placed considerable trust in the President and his administration.
