UGC plans to expand university access and facilities for students with disabilities

The University Grants Commission (UGC) is working to expand access for students with disabilities across all universities.

UGC Chairman Professor Kapila Seneviratne stated that universities will be equipped with the necessary facilities to support students with special needs.

Currently, only a limited number of universities admit students with disabilities, but future plans include enrolling them in programs such as Information Technology and Music.

Additionally, the UGC is considering upgrades to student accommodation facilities, with Rs. 1.5 billion allocated for the development of residential infrastructure.
