The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening ties with Sri Lanka, prioritizing cooperation in energy, tourism, foreign investment, and employment sectors.

This announcement came following a meeting between UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat on April 22.

Sheikh Abdullah, leading a high-level UAE delegation on an official visit to Sri Lanka, emphasized the UAE’s intent to expand bilateral relations and enhance economic collaboration for mutual benefit.

He conveyed the UAE government’s full support for Sri Lanka’s new administration and praised President Dissanayake’s leadership and dedication to the country’s recovery and international partnerships.

President Dissanayake highlighted Sri Lanka’s progress in creating a stable, investment-friendly environment, reinforced by strong legal safeguards for investors.

He also briefed the delegation on current debt restructuring efforts and outlined opportunities in sectors such as port development, the Colombo Port City, tourism, energy, and transport.

The President expressed the government’s goal of positioning Sri Lanka as a leading investment and tourism hub in the region.

The visit marks a significant step toward deepening economic and diplomatic relations between the two countries.
