Two arrested in Rs. 36 million Wi-Fi antenna scam

Two suspects have been arrested by the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) in connection with a fraud case involving over Rs. 36 million.

The suspects, aged 34 and 37, are residents of Mattakkuliya and Wattala.

According to police, they had promised to supply Wi-Fi antennas to a private company but failed to deliver the goods, defrauding the company of Rs. 36,989,684.

Following a complaint, the suspects were summoned to the FCID to give statements and were subsequently taken into custody.

They were produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court and remanded until 5th of December .
