Two suspects have been arrested by Wattala Police in connection with an incident where a female Buddhist monk was verbally abused and threatened in a public place.
A video of the incident, which shows the suspects verbally abusing the monk, has been widely circulated on social media.
The incident reportedly took place last night (02) near the Sri Ratnaavali Bhikshuni Aramaya in Kerawalapitiya, within the Wattala Police Division.
The arrested individuals, aged 58 and 67, are residents of the Wattala area. They are scheduled to be produced before the Welisara Magistrate’s Court today.
