
Two suspects have been arrested for allegedly killing wild animals and possessing animal meat in Yala National Park.
The arrests were made during a joint special operation carried out by officers of the Police Special Task Force and wildlife officials in Zone No. 2 of the park.
During the operation, authorities recovered 92 kilograms of venison, a locally manufactured firearm, two bicycles, and several other equipment items from the suspects.
The suspects, who are residents of Kataragama and Haputale, are scheduled to be produced before the Tissamaharama Magistrate’s Court.
