Trump signs order to boost shower water pressure

On Wednesday, despite ongoing global trade tensions, Donald Trump pushed forward with a long-standing personal priority: altering the federal definition of “shower head” to boost water pressure. The White House framed the move as an effort to “end the Obama-Biden war on water pressure” and “restore shower freedom.”

Trump has repeatedly criticized low water pressure in American showers, toilets, and sinks, blaming federal conservation regulations. While signing the executive order, he remarked, “I like to take a nice shower to take care of my beautiful hair… It comes out drip, drip, drip. It’s ridiculous.”

The new regulation applies to various household appliances, aiming to roll back efficiency standards set during previous administrations. Appliance experts have noted Trump’s continued focus on water pressure as unusual, with some suggesting his concerns are outdated.

The executive order also echoes Trump’s past efforts to reduce energy efficiency standards, such as rolling back regulations on lightbulbs and dishwashers, actions reversed by President Biden. With the announcement, the White House declared Trump’s goal is to “make America’s showers great again.”
