US President Donald Trump says an agreement with Iran has been “largely negotiated”, adding that details of the deal, including the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, will be announced soon.

Speaking on Saturday, Trump said the agreement was nearing finalisation following discussions involving the United States, Iran and several Middle Eastern countries.
In a post on social media, Trump described having a “very good call” with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar regarding a “Memorandum of Understanding pertaining to PEACE”.
He stated that final aspects and details of the agreement were currently being discussed and would be revealed shortly.
Trump also confirmed that he had spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying the conversation “went very well”.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said Tehran and Washington had moved closer in their positions over the past week, although key issues still remained unresolved.
Speaking to Iranian state television, Baqaei said Iran was working towards a 14-point framework agreement that could pave the way for further negotiations within the next 30 to 60 days.
The latest developments come after weeks of heightened tensions and conflict in the Middle East following military strikes launched by the US and Israel against Iran earlier this year.
A ceasefire was reached in April, after which both sides resumed negotiations aimed at securing a long-term peace agreement.
Trump has repeatedly stated that any future agreement with Iran would ensure Tehran does not obtain nuclear weapons.
