Chairman of the Committee on Public Finance (COPF), Harsha de Silva, says a Treasury report has indicated that the Central Bank of Sri Lanka also bears responsibility for the disappearance of US$2.5 million belonging to the Treasury.

Speaking after a COPF meeting, Dr. de Silva said the Central Bank has been given one week to submit its observations and explanations regarding the findings contained in the report. The issue was discussed during a committee session attended by Treasury Secretary Harshana Suriyapperuma and Central Bank Governor Nandalal Weerasinghe.
According to Dr. de Silva, the committee examined the Treasury’s report on the missing funds and sought further clarification from the Central Bank concerning its role in the matter. He made these remarks while participating in the current affairs programme Derana 360°.
