The Fort Magistrate’s Court has imposed an overseas travel ban on Sarath Weerawansa as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged misuse of government vehicles.

The order was issued in connection with allegations that 40 state-owned vehicles were improperly used, causing an estimated loss of Rs. 9 million to the government.

Authorities sought the travel restriction to ensure the smooth continuation of investigations and to prevent any potential interference with the inquiry.

The case remains under investigation as officials continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the alleged misuse of public assets.
