Tourism earnings top $1B in Q1 2025

Sri Lanka’s tourism sector saw notable growth in the first quarter of 2025, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

Tourist arrivals from January to March 2025 rose to 722,276, marking a 13.6% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

In the first quarter of 2024, arrivals stood at 635,784, showing a clear upward trend this year.

Tourism earnings surpassed USD 1 billion in early 2025, reaching USD 1,122.3 million.

This reflects a 9.4% increase in earnings compared to USD 1,025.9 million recorded during the first quarter of 2024.
