Tilvin Silva has expressed regret before the Special Presidential Commission of Inquiry investigating coal procurements over remarks he made during a May Day rally regarding the commission’s work.

Appearing before the commission in response to a summons, Silva submitted a sworn affidavit through his legal representatives, expressing regret for comments suggesting that the commission would exonerate members of the NPP Government while finding opposition figures guilty.

After considering his explanation and apology, the commission decided to release him with a warning, noting concerns that the remarks could have undermined the independence of its proceedings.

The commission is chaired by Gihan Kulatunga and includes Adithya Patabendige and Sanjeewa Somaratne as members.
