A delegation from TikTok Sri Lanka met with the Secretary to the Prime Minister on July 16 at the Prime Minister’s Office to discuss the potential use of digital platforms beyond entertainment, particularly in economic development and digital education.

The discussions focused on how TikTok could support Sri Lanka’s efforts to modernize education and create new economic opportunities through digital innovation.

TikTok representatives highlighted the importance of integrating legislation, research, and curriculum reforms to enhance knowledge in digital education, digital hygiene, and online economic prospects.

The Prime Minister’s Secretary stressed the urgency of implementing such collaborative initiatives in line with ongoing reforms in the education sector.

The meeting was attended by Ferdous Al Mottakin, TikTok’s Head of Government Relations and Public Affairs for South Asia, along with the Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister and other officials.

The Prime Minister’s Media Division stated that both parties recognized the value of digital tools in shaping a more inclusive and forward-thinking education system.
