Three killed in light plane crash at airport south of Sydney

A light plane crashed at Shellharbour Airport, south of Wollongong, NSW, killing three people.

NSW Police reported that the crash occurred at 10 a.m. and that the aircraft caught fire upon impact, which was later extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW.

Three fatalities have been confirmed. Police have established a crime scene, and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has been notified.

Ambulance NSW deployed multiple crews to the scene to assist.

Shellharbour Airport, a regional airport offering flights to Melbourne and Brisbane with Link Airways, is also frequently used by light aircraft.
