Sri Lanka has pledged its full support to ensure the successful hosting of the Global Dawoodi Bohra Community’s Spiritual Assembly and Convention, scheduled to be held in Colombo later this month.

Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, instructed officials to extend maximum assistance for the smooth organization of the event during a special meeting at the Presidential Secretariat.

The convention, taking place from 27th of June to 5th of July is expected to attract around 15,000 Dawoodi Bohra delegates from India and other countries.

Key venues for the spiritual gathering include the Bambalapitiya Bohra Mosque and the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC).

The discussion focused on essential logistical arrangements such as airport reception, accommodation, security, and infrastructure to support the large number of international attendees.

Present at the meeting were members of the Dawoodi Bohra community, Secretary to the Foreign Ministry Aruni Ranaraja, Senior Additional Secretary to the President Roshan Gamage, and other senior officials.

The government’s active role in the preparations highlights its commitment to supporting religious and cultural events that promote international goodwill and interfaith harmony.

The President’s Media Division stated that Sri Lanka views the event as an opportunity to strengthen its reputation as a welcoming destination for global religious gatherings.
