
The Ministry of Digital Economy has announced that tenders have been invited from Indian companies for the development of Sri Lanka’s new digital identity card system.
Deputy Minister Eranga Weeraratne stated that the project is scheduled to be completed within four months, with India providing a grant of Rs. 10.4 billion to support the initiative.
The digital ID card, aimed at enhancing citizen services and administrative efficiency, is expected to be launched by mid-2026.
