Telstra has confirmed that another round of mass job cuts is under consideration, potentially affecting around 550 roles across the company.
The proposed layoffs are part of an ongoing restructure of the Telstra Enterprise division and broader efforts to streamline operations, reduce complexity, and respond to evolving customer needs.
A Telstra spokesperson stated that employees will be consulted before any decisions are finalised, adding, “If the changes go ahead, we’ll work with affected individuals to help them find alternative roles within the company. If that’s not possible, they will be offered redundancy packages and support services.”
The company emphasised that the cuts are not linked to its adoption of artificial intelligence technologies.
Telstra, which employs around 31,000 people globally, previously announced in 2023 a plan to cut 2,800 jobs—9% of its workforce—to save $350 million as part of a wider enterprise business reset.
CEO Vicki Brady noted the need for efficiency to maintain investment levels and meet growing demand for connectivity services across Australia.
