A 14-year-old girl from Kelburne Estate in Haputale was admitted to Diyatalawa Hospital on 31st of May after experiencing severe abdominal pain.
During the medical examination, doctors confirmed that the girl was pregnant, prompting immediate police involvement.
Based on the girl’s statement, the Haputale Police arrested a 52-year-old man in connection with the incident.
The suspect is scheduled to be presented before the Bandarawela Magistrate’s Court today (1 June).
Haputale Police have launched a full investigation into the case to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
