A 19-year-old has been charged and police are continuing their search for another teenager in connection with two violent incidents in Melbourne yesterday.
According to Victoria Police, two boys allegedly assaulted a 70-year-old man inside a pharmacy at a shopping centre on Cheltenham Road, Keysborough around 4:55 pm. The man, a Dandenong North resident, was reportedly attacked after trying to stop the suspects from leaving with suspected stolen goods. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Later that evening, around 7:15 pm, police believe the same two boys approached a 16-year-old boy waiting at a bus stop on Centre Dandenong Road in Dingley Village. In what authorities described as an “unprovoked attack,” the teenager was allegedly stabbed and assaulted while attempting to flee. He was also taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police attempted to track down the suspects, but they fled the area. The 19-year-old was later arrested at a home in Bonbeach this morning and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He is expected to be interviewed by police. The second suspect remains at large.
