A former teacher has pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual conduct with a 17-year-old student and sexually touching a younger student while both were under her care.
Tayla Lee Brailey, 32, was arrested in August last year at a school in south-west Sydney. She had been accused of having sexual relations with the 17-year-old during class hours near the high school where she was employed.
She was also charged with sexually touching a 16-year-old student and inciting the student to engage in sexual activity.
More than 18 months after being charged, Brailey pleaded guilty in Campbelltown Local Court on Wednesday to having sexual intercourse with the 17-year-old and sexually touching the younger student in separate incidents.
Due to legal restrictions, information that could identify the students cannot be published, including the name of the school where she worked.
Brailey also admitted to using a carriage service to access and transmit child abuse material to herself.
Five additional charges — including inciting the 16-year-old to have sex and aggravated sexual assault of a victim under her authority — were withdrawn by prosecutors.
She is scheduled to be sentenced in the NSW District Court on a date to be set when she returns to court later this month.
