Tasmania’s Skilled Migration State Nomination Program for the 2026-27 financial year will reopen from August 17, offering new opportunities for skilled migrants.

Registrations of Interest (ROI) will be accepted for Subclass 190 and Subclass 491 visas from that date, with weekly invitations starting from August 20.

Tasmania has received a total allocation of 2,050 nomination places, including 1,250 spots for Subclass 190 and 800 places for Subclass 491 visas.

The state has introduced major changes to its Priority Attributes system, giving stronger preference to applicants with long-term employment experience in Tasmania.

Applicants seeking Gold Pass priority must now meet a minimum work requirement of 30 hours per week, while direct invitations for overseas applicants will not be available this year.

The application fee has increased to $387, and previous applicants will have the opportunity to submit a new ROI under the updated points system.
