
Talks are currently underway for Ethiopian Airlines to launch direct flights to Colombo, as Sri Lanka and Ethiopia continue to strengthen bilateral relations.
According to the Ethiopian News Agency, Ethiopian President Taye Atske Selassie recently bid farewell to Sri Lanka’s outgoing Ambassador to Ethiopia, Theshantha Kumarasiri, following the completion of his diplomatic tenure.
During the farewell meeting, Ambassador Kumarasiri said discussions were in progress for Ethiopian Airlines to commence direct services to Colombo. He noted that the proposed direct air link would play a significant role in enhancing Sri Lanka–Ethiopia relations by improving trade links, air cargo connectivity, tourism, and broader economic cooperation.
