Sydney fire triggers explosions and thick smoke

A massive fire at a recycling factory in Sydney’s western suburbs has triggered intense heat and explosions.

The blaze erupted at the factory on Christ Street in St Marys, sending thick smoke across the area.

Firefighters have urged residents and businesses to evacuate as heavy smoke blankets the surroundings.

Authorities have also advised people to close their windows, and nearby roads have been shut down for safety.

The New South Wales Fire and Rescue Commissioner stated that the cause of the fire remains unknown.

He added that emergency crews expect to fully extinguish the fire within the next few hours.
