Authorities have launched an investigation into a suspicious fire that engulfed a medical clinic in Melbourne’s northern suburb of Pascoe Vale overnight.
Emergency services were alerted around 9.30pm to a blaze at a home functioning as a medical clinic near the intersection of Gaffney and Derby streets.
Firefighters arrived to find the entire building consumed by flames, though fortunately, no one was inside at the time.
As a precaution, nearby residents were evacuated due to the risk of the fire spreading.
A smoke warning was issued for the area while crews worked to contain the blaze.
The fire caused a structural roof collapse at the clinic before being brought under control approximately 50 minutes later.
No injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
Fire Rescue Victoria and Victoria Police have declared the fire suspicious and established a crime scene at the location.
An arson chemist is expected to assess the site today to determine the cause of the fire.
Police are urging anyone with information or surveillance footage to contact Crime Stoppers.
