A 36-year-old man from Thalawathugoda has been remanded until 21st of October over multiple crimes, including murder, police confirmed.
The Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court issued the remand following the suspect’s arrest by Thalangama Police during a raid based on a tip-off, where officers recovered 12 grams and 200 milligrams of crystal methamphetamine (ICE).
Police investigations revealed that the suspect has close ties with organized criminal groups operating abroad and is linked to several ongoing cases, including attempted murder by shooting, heroin possession, and kidnapping.
Authorities identified him as the motorcyclist involved in the shooting and murder of a person in Gampaha, as well as two other shootings and attempted murders in the same area. He is also suspected in a separate shooting and attempted murder in Weliweriya.
A motorcycle with fake number plates, believed to have been used in these crimes, was found in the suspect’s possession.
