Pivithuru Hela Urumaya leader and former MP Udaya Gammanpila has said former State Intelligence Service (SIS) Director Suresh Sallay would protect the sensitive intelligence information in his possession to prevent a repeat of past security failures.

Speaking to the media, Gammanpila said intelligence sources provide information only to officers they trust, rejecting calls for all intelligence details to be handed over after an officer’s retirement.
He claimed that a previous security failure, known as the Millennium City incident, resulted in the deaths of 73 individuals after details about military intelligence informants were allegedly disclosed to the Police.
Gammanpila said Sallay would continue to safeguard the information under his control, ensuring that confidential intelligence sources are protected and similar incidents do not occur in the future.
