The Supreme Court of Sri Lanka has officially joined the ‘GovPay’ digital payment platform, marking a major step in the country’s move toward digital transformation.
This initiative allows the public to make online payments for various court-related services that were previously limited to cash transactions.
The integration is part of the National People’s Power (NPP) government’s broader effort to digitize public services, aiming to enhance accessibility, transparency, and efficiency.
A ceremonial event was held at the Supreme Court Complex today to mark the launch, under the patronage of Chief Justice Murdu Fernando.
The event was attended by legal professionals and representatives from the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) and LankaPay.
With the new system in place, users can now visit www.govpay.lk to make payments for services such as case filing fees, certified copies, commercial High Court appeal fees, compensation payments, complaint filing charges, and affidavit-related fees.
The Supreme Court becomes the latest institution to be added to the GovPay platform, which currently supports digital transactions for 16 major government entities.
This development represents a significant milestone in Sri Lanka’s e-governance journey.
Officials said this would reduce delays and offer more convenience to citizens engaging with the judicial system.
The move is expected to set a precedent for other judicial institutions to adopt digital payment solutions in the future.
