Supplementary medical staff threaten trade union action

The Joint Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine (JCPSM) has announced plans to launch trade union action over the government’s failure to address ongoing issues in their sector.

The council has issued a warning that if their concerns are not resolved by today (May 26thof May), they will begin union action at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 27th of May .

They stated that multiple discussions with Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa have failed to yield solutions to the problems faced by supplementary medical professionals.

Key issues include the failure to recruit qualified graduates from state universities into the health service and the continued inability to fill vacant positions in the sector.
