Christmas is fast approaching, and while it’s a time for gifts and feasting, planning for the big day can be tricky without a clear weather forecast.
This year, most of Australia can expect a sunny and bright Christmas Day, with mild to warm temperatures and only a slight chance of rain or storms in some areas.
Although recent heatwaves brought extreme temperatures, Christmas is set to be warm but not overwhelming, making it ideal for outdoor celebrations.
“It’s shaping up to be a great day for outdoor activities,” said Sky Weather meteorologist Rob Sharpe. “Barbecues, beach trips, and backyard cricket are all on the cards.”
A high-pressure system over southern Australia will keep much of the air dry and rain-free, ensuring pleasant conditions across most capital cities.
Christmas Eve weather, however, will vary across the country. Perth is set for a warm day, peaking at 34°C, while Melbourne and Hobart could see morning showers with temperatures in the mid-to-high 20s.
On Christmas Day, sunny skies will stretch from eastern Western Australia through central Australia, with most capital cities enjoying ideal conditions. Adelaide is forecast to experience the highest temperatures, reaching 35°C, while other regions will see temperatures ranging from the mid-20s to low 30s.
