Subcommittees appointed to oversee proper management of foreign aid for disaster victims

The Disaster Management Committee, which convened at the Ministry of Defence yesterday, has appointed several subcommittees to ensure effective management of foreign aid allocated to those affected by the recent adverse weather.

Committee Chairman Retired Major General Aruna Jayasekara stated that the decision was taken following extensive discussions during the meeting.

He noted that the committee had focused on key issues, including the establishment of a comprehensive data system to record all incoming aid and ensure its distribution to the rightful beneficiaries.

The eight-member committee, chaired by Deputy Minister of Defence Retired Major General Aruna Jayasekara, was appointed by the President to oversee the proper coordination and distribution of foreign aid for disaster-affected communities.
