Flood warnings remain in effect across south-east Queensland and north-east New South Wales, but weather conditions are gradually improving.
According to Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Helen Reid, many flood warnings were downgraded or finalized yesterday and overnight.
In Queensland, flood warnings persist for Warrill Creek and the Logan, Bremer, and Albert rivers, while in New South Wales, warnings remain for the Richmond, Clarence, and Orara rivers.
Rainfall in areas affected by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred has significantly decreased, with most regions receiving less than 5mm yesterday. However, heavier rainfall of 5mm to 15mm, with isolated totals reaching 30mm to 50mm, was recorded inland, particularly around Toowoomba in Queensland and Moree in New South Wales.
Thunderstorms are possible in south-west Queensland and north-west New South Wales.
Reid noted that conditions along the eastern coast would continue to improve throughout the week, though floodwaters might stay elevated.
The weekend forecast suggests dry conditions for many areas in the region.
